Tremoctopodidae: Tremoctopus gracilis (Eydoux & Souleyet, 1852) (‘slender blanket-octopus’)

Synonym(s): gracilis Eydoux & Souleyet, 1852.

Typical body-length 1000 mm. Lives in offshore waters in midwater. Native. Occurs all around Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA, WA and NT); also widespread in warmer oceanic waters worldwide. In Tasmanian waters, this taxon has been recorded as a beached specimen only, thought to be Tremoctopus gracilis .
