Nassariidae – Nassariinae: Tritia burchardi (Philippi, 1849) (‘Burchard’s dog-whelk’)
Synonym(s): burchardi Dunker in Philippi, 1849 labecula A. Adams, 1852 ellana Iredale, 1936.
Typical shell-length 12 mm. Lives intertidally on sand and mud, in sheltered environments. Native. Endemic to southeastern and southwestern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS, VIC, SA and WA). In Tasmanian waters, this is a local species, primarily found in warm estuarine waters and lagoons in the N and NE.
