Cypraeidae – Gisortiinae: Umbilia hesitata (Iredale, 1916) (‘umbilicated cowrie’)
Synonym(s): umbilicata Sowerby, 1825 hesitata Iredale, 1916 beddomei Schilder, 1930 howelli Iredale, 1931.
Typical shell-length 100 mm. Lives subtidally and offshore on mud. Native. Endemic to eastern Australia (QLD, NSW, TAS and VIC). In Tasmanian waters, this is a widespread species but seldom beached.
